New Play Submissions
Please note:
The Blyth Festival does not accept unsolicited work.
The Blyth Festival only develops new work that applies to the company’s mission, which is to offer enrichment “… by producing and developing work that gives voice to both the region and the country.”
Considerations:
The work should reflect life in Canada, or the lives of Canadians abroad.
The playwright should understand that Blyth’s core audience has little interest in blasphemous or harsh language.
The Blyth Festival is eager to develop and support cultural diversity within the parameters of its mission statement.
Guidelines:
Playwrights are welcome to contact the artistic director with proposals for new work, or to discuss works-in-progress. We ask for a description of the proposed play, in addition to any background information on development to date. An interview with the artistic director can be arranged as part of the proposal process. Playwrights are encouraged to include a current C.V. in initial correspondence. If the artistic director is interested in pursuing the proposal, the playwright will be asked to submit a writing sample and/or complete drafts of existing plays. Unsolicited works will not be returned.
